City Nature Challenge is an international four-day competition where cities across the globe compete to record the biodiversity of their urban and surrounding area. 2026 will be Athen’s first year participating in the challenge and we would love for you to be a part of it!

Taking Part is Easy!

1. 1. Download the free iNaturalist app on your Android or iPhone

1. 1. Join the Athens-Clarke County City Nature Challenge 2026 project on iNaturalist (Optional, but encouraged!)

1. 1. Find wildlife! Through April 24-27, take photos of wild plants and animals whether in your backyard, your neighborhood or a local park. Biodiversity is all around us!

1. 1. Upload your photos to iNaturalist by May 10th using iNaturalist.org or with the mobile app. Any observations within Athens-Clarke county during the observation period will automatically be added to the project

Anyone can go out on their own, team up with friends, or join us at one of the several observation events led by EcoReach and our partners!
